Black Friday is the time for a bargain, and if anyone needs a deal, it’s parents of young children. From diapers and formula to strollers, car seats, and cribs, the equipment list and products go on and on — as do the expenses. But fear not, moms and dads, retailers know that you are ready for a bargain, and they bring their best deals to the table with the time-honored tradition of amazing deals in November.
More About Cribs
Cribs range in size and price, and many can even convert into toddler beds and eventually big kid beds, so making an investment early can mean that your child’s bedding is covered for the next decade. There’s no better inspiration than a great deal on a long-term investment to get you shopping for your baby’s crib.
And while many Black Friday shoppers stay up all night and line up to score the best deals in the wee hours of the morning, some of us prefer the Cyber Monday kind of shopping that lets us stay in the comfort of our own homes (and pajama pants!) Some of the best deals can be found through online retailers, and many stores honor ads both in-store and online. Most also offer free shipping on Black Friday purchases, so you can not only order your discounted baby needs, but also have them delivered right to your front door for a fraction of the cost (and time) you’d normally spend.
Some people don’t think of purchasing large-ticket items like furniture on this major shopping day, but it does seems to be the best time to get great deals on everything — even cribs. If you’re expecting, or buying a gift for someone who is, this may be the best time to get the staple of the the nursery. Finding a great deal on the anchor of your baby’s new room can get you started on the path to making the nursery a comfortable and beautiful space for the newest member of the family.
Market Trends for Cribs: Black Friday Sales Since 2014
As you might imagine, this kind of product has been available on the market for centuries, so it’s not going to be subject to huge changes in design or value. The way we look at products – based on their features, technology, and age – suggests that cribs are going to be subject to their history and provide a sense of consistent sale prices unmatched among most other products.
Unsurprisingly, this is totally accurate of an analysis. The crib has one of the most “settled” senses of price on the market – the average crib sells for around $110. This is a relatively good price and it is one of the smaller prices associated with taking care of a new child. This price might suggest that there would be a reasonable swing during sales, as comparable prices tend to show this.
However, the crib is a type of product that experiences exceptionally small changes in price over the years. Comparable products show comparable prices since 2010, with an exemplar $110 crib showing a high of $130 during its release, and a lowest price of $100 during sales. This is a ridiculously small all-time low price of only 10% discount.
This is one of the reasons why were not overly-optimistic about seeing any serious change during the Black Friday sale this year.
How to Get a Great Deal on Cribs During Black Friday 2024
The best way to shop for Cribs this Black Friday sale is going to be to get more for your money, rather than pending less money in the first place. The sales on most cribs bring them down to comparable prices – even the higher-quality products reduce to a hard limit of $100 during Black Friday.
This suggests to us that the best choice is to spend the same $100 on a product that has a higher retail price and get the best product for your money. If they’re all going to cost the same amount – or roughly the same – by the end of the sale, you only get better value by investing in quality and features.
For example, an exemplary “5-in-1” crib retails at $140-170 but is occasionally reduced to $100-110 during sales. This makes it a direct competitor to the entry-level crib, despite having an incomparably superior build-quality and versatility. As bargains go, you’re going to need to focus on quality, rather than cost on Black Friday 2018.
This approach does have a clear limit, however – as the average $200 crib will not usually be reduced below $150. This still provides a hard distinction between medium- and premium-tier. These are all slowly dropping in price, so you may be able to get a good deal on these products, but the value of a slightly cheaper product at a 33% discount is far superior for pure value.
