It’s summertime and the kids are bouncing off the walls with boundless energy. Are you considering purchasing a backyard trampoline to help burn off that energy? Not so fast! Trampolines can be a source of great fun for kids, but parents are smart to proceed with caution.
#1 How Old Are Your Kids?
First, consider the age of the children. Only children over 6 years of age should be allowed to play on a trampoline. While that may seem restrictive, the fact is that children under the age of 6 are not physically developed enough to withstand the force of impact generated by trampoline use. The risk of severe injury is much higher with this age group. Consider holding off purchasing a trampoline until all children in the household are at least 6 years old.
#2 What Are Your Options?
Educate yourself on the options. Modern trampolines have come a long way with enhanced safety netting and padding. There are even spring free and in-ground trampolines on the market. While these features can’t eliminate the risk associated with trampolines, they do mitigate some of the safety hazards of more traditional trampolines.
#3 Make Sure You Are Insured
Third, call your insurance agent and let them know you are considering purchasing a backyard trampoline. Not all homeowners policies exclude coverage for trampolines, but many do. Your insurance agent can advise you if any changes need to be made to your policy. Don’t skip this important step or you could be putting yourself and your family at risk in the event of an accident.
#4 Fence your yard
Fourth, consider fencing in your property. Trampolines are considered an attractive nuisance, meaning that homeowners can be held liable for injuries to trespassing children. A perimeter fence will help ensure that no one enters your property to use the trampoline without your knowledge.
#5 Set Down Basic Usage Rules
And finally, if you decide to move forward with the purchase, enforce some basic rules to keep kids safe on the trampoline. Adult supervision should be required at all times. Only one jumper should be allowed on the trampoline at one time. Somersaults or other acrobatics should not be performed on the trampoline. If enforced, these three simple rules will significantly reduce the risk of injury.
Kids love the activity provided by trampolines, which is why they continue to be a popular form of backyard entertainment. With these considerations in mind, parents can make an educated decision before heading to the store.
A trampoline over 12 feet is going to set you back hundreds of dollars – no matter which model you’re looking at getting.
Given everything we’ve discussed above, and what the trampoline means to parents as a way of knowing your children are happy and safe, you might think that it’s a great purchase. However, if you’re looking to get the most out of it, then value is a big deal.
Black Friday deals on Trampolines from 2016 and 2017 show us that there is never a better time to buy. If you’re going to be buying a trampoline anyway then black Friday 2018 is looking like the very best time to do it.
There are a few key factors in play when it comes to predicting trampoline sales in 2018’s Black Friday sale.
First is the overall RRP of the product: as a more-expensive item you’re going to have more motivation to make savings – 10% off here is a much bigger deal than it might be on your next pair of gloves for winter. Savings become more meaningful when every % is a significant amount of cash.
Secondly, the trampoline’s higher price – relative to the cost of production and sale – means that we’re actually going to see some well-balanced savings. The range in this product’s sale price is around $140 from a high of over $300 to a lowest price well below $200. This kind of saving is a big deal and they come around semi-regularly so black Friday is going to be a great opportunity.
Finally, this is a chance to capitalize on one of two key themes that come up when big consumer holidays come around. This is between getting a better product for the same cash, or getting the same product at a ridiculously low price. Depending on your budget and where this trampoline sits in your priority list, there’s something for everyone in these high-sale times.
This starts with the fact that data since 2015 shows that the sales on a mid-tier skywalker trampoline are likely to drop by around 10-20%, with the largest regular price drops of around $50-70. If you’re looking to get a great product on a budget, or the trampoline isn’t top of your buying list, this makes for a great sub-$200 product.
Entry-level products with an 8’-10’ size are also going to be even more effective for those on a tight budget, as the overall price is likely to be closer to $100-150 than $200. While on the other end of the scale, a $15 trampoline is likely to see a drop from $300 to the mid-lower 200-dollar range.
This is a huge change to the landscape of the trampoline market during the Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales. This means that a premium product is going to cost the same (during the sale) as the retail price for a trampoline that is considerably smaller, the mid-tier product will be less expensive than the entry-level RRP, and the entry-level model is now a whole digit cheaper!
What we see with the trampoline is a great small-scale showing of what a big consumer holiday like black Friday can do to the different models and tiers of products. These are all based on high-quality brands and their flagship products – but the changes are significant and make a big difference to your budget!
As ever, where your child’s safety is concerned, we suggest getting familiar with the specifics of the product and really reading around to see which brands are strong on safety nets and fastenings. While you don’t always have the choice, getting a better product is a great choice to keep your little ones safe while they bounce!
Trampolines are the perfect addition to any household.
Of course, they’re great fun for the whole family — but they also offer incredible health benefits!
If you have been in the market for a trampoline, there’s no better time to purchase your family’s next action-packed piece of exercise equipment than Cyber Monday or Black Friday. When you buy a good quality trampoline, you’re making an investment in your family’s health. It’s also a great way to spend time together outdoors.
The only problem is that in order to enjoy a good quality trampoline, you’re going to need to spend a pretty penny. Well, that is if you purchase a trampoline outside of Cyber Monday and Black Friday.
Don’t pay more than you need to — invest in family fun this upcoming season, and save big.
Sure, if you pay attention and follow certain sales, you can find some decent prices throughout the year — but very few will match the type of savings you’ll receive during Cyber Monday and Black Friday events. This is the time to shop for big ticket items, especially those you plan to use for years to come.
With deals up to 50% off, it’s important to know what to look for. It also helps to be aware of what potential savings are out there, so you know that you’re getting the best possible deal.
Keep your eyes peeled a few days prior, so you’re aware of which stores are offering deals. These deals typically sell out quick within brick and mortar stores, so be mindful of Cyber Monday deals as well!
